Jews Banned to Settle in Serbia

Ilija Garašanin, the Minister of the Interior communicated to the Administration of the Town of Belgrade regarding the ban for settlement of the Jews, after he had received information that over thirty poor families headed from Sarajevo towards Serbia. In addition, the Ministry was informed that a number of Jews settled in Serbia after being deported from Vlaška.

Josif Šlezinger Got His Real Property From Miloš Obrenović

The Administration of the Town of Belgrade drafted the requestion addressed to the Kragujevac Court regarding the property of Josif Šlezinger. The Administration explained that Šlezinger didn‘t have a deed for the house and a piece of land since the Prince Miloš Obrenović had given them to him as a gift, highlighting that the word of the Prince used to have a strenght of both "a deed and a document".

Juda Aron To Take An Oath

The Belgrade Town Court communicated to the Administration of the City of Belgrade regarding the oath Juda Aronin had to take in the presence of a rabbi, according to the Jewish tradition. The oath was requested in the lawsuit Juda Aron had filed against Rista Marković over debt, which the accused wouldn‘t acknowledge.

Jewish Merchants Filed a Complaint Against Banning to Work on Sundays

The Ministry of the Interior recommended the Administration of the Town of Belgrade to discharge the complaint Manahaim Hasan and Haim Koen, the Jewish merchants, had filed regarding the ban to work on Sundays and holidays, and to investigate their statements that some rich merchants didn‘t work on Sundays and holidays, but they traded "behind the curtain".

Jozef Haim Admitted to the Serbian Citizenship

The Administration of the Town of Belgrade informed the Ministry of the Interior that Jozef Haim had been discharged from the citizenship of Schwarzburg, that he came to Serbia in 1839 and ever since had been working as a chimneysweeper, and his behavior had been appropriate, the Ministry approved his admission to the Serbian citizenship.

Correspondence of the Belgrade Town Court and the Administration of the Town of Belgrade regarding the bankruptcy of Jakov Ruso and his partner Jozef Eskenazi. Their property had been banned and inventoried, therefore Leon Eskinazi, from Vienna, gave a guarantees that his brother Jozef would not leave the country prior to the completion of the lawsuit with the creditors.
